These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Meridian, a property management platform operated by [Meridian Legal Entity Name, Inc. — insert once formed] ("Meridian," "we," "us"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms.
1. What Meridian is — and isn't
Meridian is a record-keeping and workflow tool for landlords and property managers to organize properties, tenants, leases, rent tracking, and applicant screening coordination.
Meridian is not a consumer reporting agency, does not generate credit scores or background checks, and does not make tenant approval or rejection decisions. Any screening data you record was sourced by you from your own applicants or independent third-party screening providers. You are solely responsible for how you use that information and for complying with applicable law, including anti-discrimination and consumer reporting law.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate registration information and are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to manage the properties you add to Meridian.
3. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor (Stripe). Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise at checkout.
You may cancel a paid plan at any time from the Billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We may change plan pricing with at least 30 days' notice for existing subscribers.
4. Your data and content
You retain ownership of the property, tenant, and lease data you enter into Meridian ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited license to process Customer Data solely to provide and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.
You represent that you have the necessary rights and, where applicable, consents from tenants and applicants to store their information in Meridian.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Meridian to violate fair housing law, discriminate against applicants or tenants on any legally protected basis, or use screening information for a purpose other than a legitimate tenancy decision. See our Acceptable Use Policy for details.
6. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your Customer Data after a short retention window described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law, with notice where practicable.
7. Disclaimers and liability
Meridian is provided "as is." We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meridian's aggregate liability arising from these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where prohibited by law (for example, liability for gross negligence in jurisdictions that do not permit its limitation).
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Insert governing law / jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
